Who We Are
Ben has been involved with the Equine world most of his life, most notably as an amateur jump jockey for a decade while running a derivatives trading business. Ben rode 25 winners as a jockey with the highlights including a 3rd in the Cheltenham Foxhunters and 6th in the equivalent over the big Aintree fences.
Ben’s family have been connected to the Philip Hobbs yard for over 20 years where horses such as Gunther McBride, Chilling Place, Bow Strada and more recently Smarty Wild to name a few have run in the Tuckey colours.
The family have also been connected with notable breeding success including the record breaking National Hunt sale of Interconnected where the hammer fell on a price of £625,000 and a venture into the flat racing world with the smart horse Crop Report, out of the William Haggas yard.
Nowadays Ben is proactively involved with the BHWC as a field master in their Thursday country.
Helen has grown up with horses and hails from North Lincolnshire, from where she competed at the very highest standard in the field of Eventing as a teenager. Her talent and passion for all things Equine has never diminished and she is responsible for the day to day running of the yard at home in Buckinghamshire.
Helen has ridden in many equine disciplines including Polo, team chasing and modern hunt rides with great success, and her affinity with the horse lends itself to bringing on young horses from grass roots.
Helen’s fine eye for detail is evident in the producing and turn out of all horses that leave the Buckinghamshire base, whether to go eventing, Pony Club with the children or in the hunting field.
